Why can JAPAN DIRECT offer this service at a reasonable rate?
This is because you can directly contact patent firm in Japan, eliminating the cost of patent firm in US.
Why doesn’t JAPAN DIRECT charge oversea transfer fees?
It is because money will be deposited directly to an US domestic bank account. However, you will have to take care of any (domestic) transfer fees that apply to the deposit.
When do you pay the service fee?
For filing an application, you will have to pay before filing the application. The registration fee is to be paid when the trademark is granted for registration (approx. 12 months after application is filed to the JPO)
Does JAPAN DIRECT file the application right when the payment is done?
Yes, as soon as we receive the payment, we will promptly begin to file an application.
I am concerned about requesting directly to an overseas patent firm.

Can I apply for a 10-year duration of trademark rights?
Yes, you can with an increase in JPO official fee.You will have the opportunity to choose a duration of 5 or 10 years at the time of registration.
I am currently not using my trademark–Am I still able to register it?
Of course. In Japan, even if you are not using your trademark at the point of filing an application or registration, you can register. However, if you haven’t used it for 3 years, there is a risk that the trademark may be canceled.
What are the benefits of having a trademark registration certificate?
Whether you have a trademark registration certificate or not does not affect the scope of your rights you will be able to have with the trademark. Think of it as an award certificate you receive after winning a contest. If you’d prefer to have a paper, we will ship it to you, however you will be charged for the shipping costs.
